4 Forces That Govern Universe

Our universe is governed by four known fundamental forces. The first is gravity. Although it is the weakest, it's the most far-reaching. It is responsible for keeping planets and stars in their orbits, and it governs the structure of the universe on a large scale. Then we have the electromagnetic force responsible for the interactions between electrically charged particles.

It holds atoms and molecules together and is responsible for the behavior of light. The third is the weak nuclear force, responsible for radioactive decay, which occurs when an unstable atomic nucleus loses energy by emitting particles. Finally, we have the strong nuclear force that holds the nuclei of atoms together. It is the strongest of the fundamental forces, but its range is very short, acting only over distances on the order of the size of atomic nuclei.
